Q. What are the eligibility criteria and process for admission into Ph.D. 2023 batch?

Q. I need some help, how can I contact helpdesk for Ph.D. admission?
Ans: You can send email to phdadmission@iimbg.ac.in . Depending on the nature of query, the Admission Office will reply at the earliest during working hours.

Q. What are the information required for the online application?
Ans: Apart from your personal details, educational details, and experience details, you have to enter the answer to some questions such as:
i. Briefly (but clearly) state the research interests that led you to apply to the Doctoral Programme.
ii. Why do you think you should be selected, given your career goal, personal attributes and achievement? (300 words)
iii. Please list all university-level courses (i.e. papers) taken, which are related to the area of specialization you would like to pursue at IIM Bodh Gaya.
iv. In case you have applied for two areas of specialization, please give reasons for doing so: (300 words)
v. Previous research experience (Details of research project/experiment/fieldwork prior to the application) (300 words).
vi. Any publications: (Journals/Conference Proceedings, Conference Presentations/ Books/Book Chapters/Periodicals, etc...)
vii. List honours, awards and distinctions you have received
viii. Any other information:

Q. For how many areas of specialization I can apply?
Ans: You can apply for a maximum of two areas. You can apply for one area in one application. For the second area, you have to apply again. For the second application form, you are required to use another email ID, however, the same mobile number may be used. For the second area application, you will receive another application number.

Q. Can I fill the form in more than one online session? 
Ans: Yes, you can fill the form in more than one online session. You can save the filled information in one session. Whenever you login the next time, you can fill in the remaining information. You can login as many times as you require till the final submission of the form.

Q. What is the preferable size of photo?
Ans: 200 KB to 500 KB.

Q. What is the preferable size of signature?
Ans: 50 KB to 200 KB.

Q. Do I need to upload scanned copies of certificates?
Ans: Yes, you have to upload the scanned copies in the pdf format of the following documents.
Proof of educational qualification (to confirm the eligibility).
Category certificate, if applicable,
PWD certificate, if applicable,
Test Scorecard (CAT/GATE/GMAT/GRE/JRF)

Q. Is there any relaxation in age or qualifying marks for candidates from reserved category?
Ans: Relaxation of 5 Years is allowed for SC/ST/PwD candidates and
Relaxation of 3 Years is allowed for NC-OBC candidates
Relaxation of 5% marks is allowed for SC/ST/PwD candidates

Q. My result is in the format of CGPA, how do I enter it in the percent format?
Ans: Most of the boards/universities provide CGPA to the percent conversion formula.
If no such formula is provided by the board/university, then divide the obtained CGPA by total GP and multiply by 100. For example, You obtained 7.24 CGPA on 9 point scale, the equivalent percentage will be (7.24/9)*100 = 80.44%.

Q. My board/university does not provide the total marks or the percentage, how do I calculate the percentage.
Ans: Some boards/universities provide the percentage of marks or the total marks. However, if the same is not provided by the board/university, then the candidate should add marks of all subjects mentioned on the mark-sheet/grade-sheet and calculate the percentage.

Q. Round off of percentage score. What should I enter as a percentage, if my actual score is 69.329%? 
Ans: You must enter as 69.32% only. 

Q. Whether on-campus accommodation available for Ph.D. scholars?
Ans: Yes, hostel accommodation would be provided.

Q. I have more than one qualifying exam score, which one should I enter? 
Ans: You can enter the score of all qualifying exams.

Q. I have more than one master's degree. 
Ans: You can enter only one master’s degree. 

Q. How many referees do I need for the application?
Ans: Two for application in one area. You have to enter the contact details of both referees in the application.

Q. Who can be my referee?.
Ans: Preferably one of the referees should be the teacher, who has taught you at undergraduate or postgraduate level. The second referee could be your teacher (at UG or PG level) or the person at your workplace, who has managed you directly or indirectly.

Q. Can I add the same referees for both areas of application?
Ans: Yes, but there should be at least two different referees for each area.

Q. How do I submit a letter of recommendation from the referee?
Ans: Online Application System will send the online form directly to the referee through email. He/she can submit it directly to the Admission Office as per instruction.

Q. I have worked in more than 4 organizations. How do I enter the details?
Ans: You can furnish the four most relevant and appropriate work experiences only.

Q. I am not able to fill in details about work experience, publications, etc. due to space constraints.
Ans: You may briefly furnish the relevant and appropriate information in the 'Any other information' section. 

Q. I am in my final year and the final results are not available. What should I do?
Ans: You may enter the consolidated percentage of the available results. You may mention the percentage up to what semester/year details in 'Any other information' section. 

Q. I am in the final year of my qualifying degree and the expected month of examination is in May 2023. Am I eligible?
Ans: Yes, you are eligible as long as you are completing all the requirements for obtaining the relevant degree before 30th June 2023. You must submit your proof of completing the qualifying degree by 31st December 2023.

Q. How much is the application fee?
Ans: Rs. 500 for one area. However, SC, ST, PwD, Women and Transgender candidates are required to pay only Rs. 250.

Q. How do I pay the Application fee?
Ans: After submitting the online application form, you will be redirected to the payment page. This payment page is managed by a bank, and you can use any of the payment methods mentioned on the payment page. After successful payment, it will be redirected to your application page.
